Dyson Air Multiplier

Have you ever seen a fan without any blades?? Well look no further!


Dyson have bought out their new range of fan the Dyson Air Multiplyer! 




This works as Air is sucked in through the base by a 40 watt electric motor, and then pushed out at high speed through a lip which runs around the inside of its circular head. As this is forced out, other air is drawn into the airflow, resulting in the expulsion of 405 litres every second (15 times the amount that was originally bought in!)

All in all a very very fantastic innovation. It really is very clever in the way that it has been done, to have that much air coming out compared to what was done with the old fans really makes a difference on keeping you cool! I know sometimes in the summer I have my fan on and sometimes it makes me more hot than cold as its not blowing at any force! I feel the idea is very clever also taking in the air and multiplying it by 15 times! So impressive!

Cricket hot spot

The bowler bowls, its edged by the batsman! Hoooooooowzaattttttttttt?!?!?!? appeals the bowler and fielding team! Umpire has given not out! The decision is referred and Hot Spot will be used to show us whether the ball hit the bat!

Hot Spot is an infra-red imaging system used in cricket to determine whether the ball has struck the batsman'sbat. Hot Spot uses two infra-red cameras on opposite sides of the ground above the field of play that are continuously recording the game. Any suspected snick or bat/pad event can be verified by examining the infra-red hot spot image, which shows a bright spot where contact friction from the ball has elevated the local temperature. 


After referring the decision it is clear to see that the umpire was wrong and the batsman is OUT! You can see the bright white dot on the bat where the ball has struck from the use of the infra-red cameras.

Hot spot has been supported by nearly all cricketers bar that of the Indian cricket team. India's captain MS Dhoni said after the Melbourne Test that he had been a fan of Hot Spot before India's tour of England last year, but he was no longer convinced he could trust the technology. There was a number of appeals during the England-India series that went to umpire reviews and Hot Spot showed inconclusive results.


Further developments are being made to Hot Spot New.  Inventor Warren Brennan, believes his technology can now pick up even the faintest of edges after the development of more sensitive cameras.  Read more below.
